SWF Super Wrestling
The Super Wrestling Federation: a free, retro 16-bit style wrestling game you play right in your browser. Sixty original wrestlers from over 50 countries, fourteen match types and nine championship belts to win and defend, alone or head to head with a friend.
How to play
Choose a match type, pick your wrestler (and a partner, or a second player), and walk out to your own music and lights. Strike, grapple, slam and fly off the top rope; then win the way the match is won: a three count, a ten count, the most falls, over the top rope, out of the cage or up the ladder. Every match but the Super Rumble is for a championship.

Career
Start a career and take one wrestler from the bottom of the SWF rankings to the top. There's a match every week, a Super Rumble pay-per-view every fourth week, title shots when you reach the top three, and title defenses once you hold a belt. Your career is saved in your browser.
Championships
Every match in the Super Wrestling Federation but the Super Rumble is for a title: the SWF World Heavyweight, Royal, Gauntlet, Nations, Tag Team, Steel, Hardcore, Iron and Super championships. Beat the champion and the belt is yours to defend; reigns and defenses are remembered between visits.
Match types
Fourteen ways to fight: the 30-wrestler Super Rumble for pure glory, then a title for each of the rest: a 20-wrestler Battle Royal, a one-against-ten Gauntlet, a Singles Match and a Triple Threat decided by pinfall, a Tag Team match with tags and saves, a Steel Cage you win by pinfall or by climbing out, Ladder to the Belt, where the first to pull down the hanging SWF title wins it, Money in the Bank, a six-wrestler ladder match for a briefcase you can cash in on any champion, any time, Ultimate X, where the briefcase hangs where two steel cables cross over the ring, a Lumberjack match with the roster surrounding the ring, the eight-wrestler King of the Ring tournament, Last Man Standing, where a knockdown only counts if they can't beat the referee's ten count, and the Iron Clock: the most falls in five minutes.
Rules of the ring
- Pinfall matches end on the referee's three count. Pinned yourself? Mash the buttons to kick out.
- Thrown over the ropes in a one-on-one? Fight on the floor, but get back in before the referee counts ten.
- Grab the ropes to break a pin or a submission. Too hurt, and you might not reach them.
- In the Super Rumble and the Battle Royal you're out when you go over the top rope and hit the floor. Hanging on from the apron still counts as in.
- A toss only works near the ropes, and works best when your opponent is worn down. Heavyweights are harder to throw.
- Fill your special meter by dealing and taking damage, then unleash your wrestler's own signature move.
- Going up top is a gamble. A missed dive hurts, and a hit while you're on the turnbuckle can knock you to the floor.
Questions
- What is the Super Rumble?
- The SWF's biggest match: 30 wrestlers, a new one every 30 seconds, and you start at number one. Throw everyone over the top rope and be the last one left.
- Is there a career mode?
- Yes. Pick a wrestler and climb the rankings with a match every week, a Super Rumble every fourth week, and title shots once you reach the top three.
- Is SWF Super Wrestling free?
- Yes. It runs in your browser with nothing to install or buy, on computers, phones and tablets.
- Can two people play?
- Yes. Switch to two players on the match screen and play head to head on one keyboard, or with game controllers.
- How do I pin someone?
- Knock your opponent down, then press grab (L) next to them to cover them. The referee runs over and counts to three. If you're pinned, mash the buttons to kick out.
- How do I win a championship?
- Every match type except the Super Rumble is for a belt, and the champion is in the match to defend it. Win, and the title is yours to defend next time.

Rivalries, feuds and factions
Every wrestler in the SWF is in a feud, and the feuds play out in every match. Rivals go after each other first. When both are in the ring the announcer calls the feud, and if one throws the other out, the score is settled. An eliminated wrestler sometimes storms back in for revenge. Stablemates watch each other's backs. The heels cheat, and the crowd lets them hear it.
Feuds
27 feuds run through the SWF. Some are rivalries built on respect, some are grudges, and a few are blood feuds that will only end when one of them can't get up.
The Battle of the Beasts
Mbogo (babyface) vs. Big Tusker (heel) · Blood feud
Two of East Africa's biggest men, and only room for one at the top of the food chain. Big Tusker cost Mbogo his first shot at the World title by pulling the referee out of the ring, and the Iron Buffalo has been charging at him ever since.
The Crown and the Anchor
Captain Cobalt (babyface) vs. Baron Blitz (heel) · Blood feud
Baron Blitz bought his way to a title shot; Captain Cobalt earned his the hard way and beat him anyway. The Baron has never forgiven the sailor for embarrassing him in front of his Syndicate, and he has spent a fortune trying to sink him.
Stone versus Steel
Granite Grace (babyface) vs. Amara Steel (babyface) · Rivalry
Neither has ever been beaten cleanly by the other. Their first match went to a draw when both were counted out brawling on the floor, and every rematch since has been the hardest-hitting match on the card.
The High-Flyer Wars
Rio Rocket (babyface) vs. El Trueno (babyface) · Rivalry
Who flies higher? Rio Rocket and El Trueno have spent three years trying to out-dive each other, from the top turnbuckle, the apron and, once, the ring post. The crowd loves it. Their doctors do not.
Storm and Dragon
Tokyo Tempest (babyface) vs. Mei Long (babyface) · Rivalry
Rivals since a junior tournament in Shanghai, where Mei Long won with a kick Tokyo Tempest still swears was late. They are the two quickest wrestlers in the SWF, and they never stop trying to prove it.
Law and Shadow
Marshal Mayhem (babyface) vs. Mister Midnight (heel) · Blood feud
Marshal Mayhem has sworn to bring Mister Midnight to justice for the night the lights went out and three wrestlers were found on the floor. Nobody saw who did it. The Marshal is certain he knows.
Fire and Ice
Vulcan Vega (babyface) vs. Bjorn Brakke (babyface) · Grudge
The Molten Man and the Frozen Fortress. Bjorn Brakke once outlasted Vulcan Vega for twenty minutes in the Super Rumble without moving an inch, and Vega has been trying to melt him ever since.
The Unbreakable
Kojo Mensah (babyface) vs. Ivan Stone (heel) · Blood feud
Ivan Stone claims nobody can break him. Kojo Mensah, the Ashanti Warrior, has made it his mission to prove him wrong, and he nearly did, until the Dockyard ran in. Now it is personal, for both of them and for both their factions.
The Dance-Off
Tango Torres (babyface) vs. Flamenca Flores (babyface) · Rivalry
Buenos Aires against Seville, tango against flamenco. It began as a dance-off on a talk show and has turned into the most stylish rivalry in wrestling: every strike timed to the beat, every win celebrated with a flourish.
The Ancient Wonders
Pharaoh Farouk (heel) vs. Adonis Argyros (babyface) · Grudge
Two men who believe they are monuments. Pharaoh Farouk demands that rivals kneel; Adonis Argyros refuses to bend for anyone but a mirror. The argument over who is the true wonder of the ancient world has been going on for eleven matches.
Wired and Chill
El Cafetero (babyface) vs. Irie Irvine (babyface) · Rivalry
El Cafetero has not slept in days. Irie Irvine has never once been in a hurry. They drive each other mad: one wants to finish it in thirty seconds, the other is happy to take thirty minutes.
Eight Limbs, One Lotus
Krai Kittipong (babyface) vs. Lotus Linh (babyface) · Rivalry
The striker and the escape artist. Krai Kittipong throws everything, elbows and knees included; Lotus Linh bends away from all of it and waits. Every match is a question: can eight limbs ever catch a reed in the wind?
The Immovable Objects
Baobab Balde (babyface) vs. Maunga (babyface) · Rivalry
What happens when the thousand-year tree meets the coral crusher? Mostly, nothing moves. Their first meeting broke the ring. Their second broke the replacement. The SWF has stopped asking them for a third.
Shearing Season
Shears Shaw (heel) vs. Alpaca Amaru (heel) · Grudge
A sheep shearer from Rotorua and the fluffiest fighter in the Andes. Shears Shaw keeps promising to give Alpaca Amaru a haircut, and Alpaca keeps spitting in his eye. Both cheat; neither will admit the other is better at it.
The Battle of the Bands
K-Pow (babyface) vs. Makossa Mamadou (babyface) · Rivalry
The Idol of Busan and the Dancing Bulldozer of Douala both play to the loudest crowds in the federation. It started over who got the bigger cheer on entrance and has become a weekly war over who owns the room.
Mask and Oil
Barong Bagus (heel) vs. Yusuf Yağli (babyface) · Blood feud
Barong Bagus has a trick for everyone, but none of them work on a man he can't hold on to. Yusuf Yağlı slips out of every hold and every ambush, and the Masked Trickster has taken it as an insult from the spirits themselves.
Detention
Principal Pain (babyface) vs. Dean Dropkick (heel) · Grudge
Dean Dropkick was the worst student Principal Pain ever had, and the only one who ever locked her in the supply cupboard. Twenty years later he hands out detention in the ring. She is here to show him what detention really means.
The Kitchen War
Chef Flambé (heel) vs. Braai Botha (babyface) · Grudge
Chef Flambé called Braai Botha's barbecue "charcoal with feelings" on live television. The Grill Sergeant answered with his tongs. Now every argument about fire and meat is settled in the ring, and nobody is getting a second helping.
Fire Drill
Captain Hose (babyface) vs. Zuri Blaze (babyface) · Rivalry
Zuri Blaze says she is the fire. Captain Hose has never met a fire he couldn't put out. It started when he emptied an extinguisher over her entrance pyro, and it has been the hottest rivalry in the SWF ever since.
The Endurance Test
Coach Cardio (heel) vs. Tsehay Swift (babyface) · Grudge
Coach Cardio sells a programme that promises you'll never get tired. Tsehay Swift actually never gets tired, and she told his followers so. He has been trying to outlast her on camera ever since, and he has not managed it once.
Back Taxes
The Auditor (heel) vs. Nonno Napoli (babyface) · Grudge
Nonno Napoli has not filed a tax return since 1974, and The Auditor has the paperwork to prove it. The old man says he paid in wrestled bears. The Auditor says the bill is overdue, with interest, and he has come to collect.
The Unpaid Fare
Boda Brayo (babyface) vs. The Golden Sultan (heel) · Grudge
The Golden Sultan rode on the back of Boda Brayo's motorbike across Kisumu, then refused to pay because his money "fights for him". Brayo has been chasing the fare, and the Sultan, around every arena since.
The Second Opinion
Dr. Suture (tweener) vs. Raj Varma (babyface) · Blood feud
Dr. Suture declared the Bengal Tiger unfit to wrestle and had him pulled from a title match. Raj Varma tore up the medical report and went looking for the doctor. Suture says the tiger needs treatment. Raj says the doctor will need one.
The Hard Reset
Reboot Rao (babyface) vs. Harlan Hook (heel) · Grudge
Harlan Hook cheats when the referee isn't looking. Reboot Rao fixed the arena's replay system and showed the whole crowd. The Dockside Bully wants him unplugged; Rao keeps finding new footage.
The Heavy Harvest
Sugar Kane (tweener) vs. Steinn Stonelifter (babyface) · Rivalry
Steinn Stonelifter lifts volcanoes for breakfast and said nothing in the SWF was too heavy for him. Then Sugar Kane walked out of the cane fields. The Lava Field Strongman has been trying to get the Colossus off the ground ever since, and Sugar Kane keeps wishing him sweet dreams.
Monsoon and Mountain
Tala Reyes (babyface) vs. Condora Cáceres (babyface) · Rivalry
Two high-flyers who lost their old rivals to new arrivals and found each other. Tala Reyes rides the monsoon; Condora Cáceres flies off the Andes. Every match between them is a contest over who can fall from higher and still get up.
The Legend and the Dark
Eclipse (tweener) vs. a legend nobody has seen in years · Blood feud
Eclipse wants to swallow every light the SWF has left, but one has never gone out. Somewhere between number 20 and number 30 of the Super Rumble, you might find out who.
Stables
9 stables, sworn to each other. In a Battle Royal or the Super Rumble, stablemates won't lay a hand on one another while anyone else is left, and they gang up on the same opponent. In a tag match they're a ready-made team.
The Syndicate
Heel stable · Baron Blitz (leader), The Golden Sultan, Pierre Panache and The Auditor
“Everything has a price. Especially you.”
Old money, new tricks. Baron Blitz pays the bills, the Golden Sultan pays everyone else, Pierre Panache makes sure they look magnifique doing it, and The Auditor keeps the books. They have bought title shots, referees and, once, the house lights. When one of them is in trouble, the other two are never far away.
Pride of the Plains
Babyface stable · Mbogo (leader), Simba Kali and Kojo Mensah
“The herd runs together.”
Three warriors from Kenya and Ghana who decided the SWF needed someone to stand up to the Syndicate. Mbogo leads from the front, Simba Kali brings the roar, and Kojo Mensah brings the fight to anyone who crosses them. Hurt one and the other two will be coming.
The Dockyard
Heel stable · Harlan Hook (leader) and Ivan Stone
“Last orders. No refunds.”
A dockside bully from Liverpool and a wall of Siberian muscle who met loading cargo and found they liked hurting people more. Harlan Hook does the talking and the cheating; Ivan Stone does the rest. They hunt in a pair, and they never fight fair.
The Night Coven
Tweener stable · Eclipse (leader), Count Vesperin and Hollowmoor
“The sun is gone.”
Nobody knows where they came from. Eclipse rises again after being put down; Count Vesperin drinks the strength of everyone he hits; Hollowmoor vanishes when thrown from the ring and comes back out of the mist. When the lights flicker, they are close.
The Cold Front
Babyface stable · Moose Mackenzie and Steinn Stonelifter (leader)
“Brace yourself.”
Canada and Iceland, and the friendliest beatings in the federation. Moose Mackenzie apologises as he flattens you, and Steinn Stonelifter lifts you like a volcano. Winter is not coming. Winter is here.
The Hard Hats
Babyface stable · Stanisław Stal (leader), Batu Boulder and Braai Botha
“Built, not born.”
A shipyard welder from Gdańsk, an eagle of the Mongolian steppe and a grill sergeant from Pretoria: working men who turned up for every shift. They don't care for showboats or shortcuts, and they treat every match like a job that needs finishing.
The Afterparty
Babyface stable · Dj Boombox (leader), Irie Irvine and Tango Torres
“The party starts when we arrive.”
DJ Boombox brings the beat, Irie Irvine keeps everyone calm and Tango Torres brings the style. They came together to turn every show into a celebration, and they will happily dance on whoever tries to stop it.
The Day Shift
Babyface stable · Boda Brayo (leader), Reboot Rao and Captain Hose
“We clock in. You clock out.”
A boda boda rider from Kisumu, an IT support hero from Bengaluru and a firefighter from Sydney: people with real jobs who wrestle on their nights off. They look after each other like workmates do, and they can't stand the Syndicate, who have never worked a day in their lives.
The Ancient Order
Heel stable · Pharaoh Farouk (leader) and Barong Bagus
“Kneel, or be buried.”
A self-crowned king of the Nile and a masked trickster from Bali who claims the spirits whisper his opponents' moves to him. Pharaoh Farouk demands worship; Barong Bagus makes sure the people who refuse it get hurt.
Heels and babyfaces
The heels are Baron Blitz, The Golden Sultan, Pierre Panache, Mister Midnight, Harlan Hook, Ivan Stone, Pharaoh Farouk, Barong Bagus, Shears Shaw, Alpaca Amaru, Dean Dropkick, Big Tusker, The Auditor, Chef Flambé and Coach Cardio. They rig the Super Rumble countdown so the next entrant arrives early, jump wrestlers backstage before they reach the ring, hide on the floor until only a few are left, reach for steel chairs first, and go for the eyes or below the belt when the referee isn't looking. The crowd boos them from the moment their music hits.
Everyone else is a babyface, cheered on the way in and cheered louder on the way out, except the Night Coven. They're tweeners: nobody is quite sure whose side they're on. Eclipse gets straight back up after being knocked down, Count Vesperin drains the strength of everyone he hits and Hollowmoor vanishes when he is thrown out and reappears in the ring.
Expect the unexpected
No two nights in the SWF play out the same. Eliminated wrestlers storm back for revenge, steel chairs get slid into the ring, the lights go out, heels ambush their rivals backstage or hide outside the ring until the very end, champions fall, and a returning legend is waiting for the right moment.
